F* Your Limitations

June 29, 2017

Whatever you are going through right now, you can overcome it. Please believe me. Believe me over everyone else who is telling you otherwise.

I’ve been told otherwise my whole damn life. I’ve been told that I will have a shorter life expectancy, I’ve been told that if I’m not careful I could end up paralysed. I’m so done with people telling me what I can and can’t do. I don’t care if you are my doctors, my physio or my family and friends. I’m so DONE living in fear.

Like seriously, fuck them!

I’ve had 15 surgeries, and the worst of them were 5 when I was 11. This is me recovering from 3 brain surgeries, a punctured intestine and a brain tumour removal surgery in the space of 3 months. I was a shell of the person I was before, not just physically but emotionally. I’ve never been more fragile and more scared to live, but also to lose my life.

I lived in fear for a long ass time and it wasn’t worth it. 8 years of living carefully and I ended back in hospital anyway so please live life to the full. Don’t go through what I went through in order to realise you’ve got it good. Don’t lose your health and the control over your body to realise that body of yours is doing its best to keep you HERE. To keep you ALIVE.

Live your life while you still can.

The fact that anyone could compare these two photos and only see weight gain saddens me. In the context of EVERYTHING, that is the last thing you should see. This IS a transformation. This is unhealthy to healthy.

We all need a bit of perspective when it comes to thinking about our bodies and before you think about what you don’t have – that thigh gap, those big boobs, those lovely curves, that tiny waist… STOP. And think about what you do have. A body that works. That keeps you breathing and has always been there for you, fighting for you… even when you’ve not been fighting for it.
My body fought to keep me here, to keep my alive. My body won, I’m still breathing. The only difference now is that we are fighting on the same team. #ScarredNotScared #OneTakeBeauty
