Why I am In Body Positivity

October 30, 2017

I’m not here for the platitudes about self love + girl power.
I’m not here for pretty pictures or to be fashionable.
I’m not here to resolve my insecurities through mass approval + external validation.
I’m not here for these things but it is OK if you are.
For me though:
I’m here to educate + share my knowledge.
I’m here for you all to take action in YOUR own life.

I'm not here for the platitudes about self love + girl power. I'm not here for pretty pictures or to be fashionable. I'm not here to resolve my insecurities through mass approval + external validation. I'm not here for these things but it is OK if you are. For me though: I'm here to educate + share my knowledge. I'm here for you all to take action in YOUR own life. I care about: Raising the global body confidence level Abolishing the diet industry completely Being inclusive of every minority Educating you on understanding your brain so you can use it to your advantage Ensuring every human feels safe for existing in their body Making self compassion the norm Why? Because I believe: When you stop hating yourself, you'll stop hating others. When you stop shaming yourself, you'll stop body shaming others. When you start seeing your beauty, you will start seeing others too When you love yourself, you will start spending time + energy on yourself + stop minding other people's business. There's been debates in this community this year + I'm grateful for all of them – even the dramas I found myself slap bang in the middle of cause it forced me to question what I was posting. I truly believe my place in both the community + my life is to help people on their own individual paths to body confidence. To some that might not be political enough, but to me, I think it's where you have to start. I was body confident before I was body positive. I believe it's easier that way around. I want to give you the tools which helped me become a better + HAPPIER human. We need the best humans the world can get. I realised it was my job to figure out what I was good at + utilise it. I got bored of people saying "love yourself", it made me want to scream "HOW?". So I made this page the "HOW?". I want to: – equip you to rebel against the system and diet culture – teach you how to use your brain to your advantage – realise how little time you have without having to go through the pain of so many life threatening surgeries. And let's be honest, existing in my mixed-race, plus-size, physically-limited, Scarred body unapologetically is political in itself. #ScarredNotScared
