In order for you to have an insecurity, you have to hold that insecurity in your mind for longer than a second to create it. I was in a coaching seminar the other day when they wanted us to practice on each other. That asked me to use one of my own insecurities about my body as an example and I was the dick in the room who said I didn’t have one.
But let’s be honest, I wasn’t being a dick, I was being honest and instead it came across as arrogance because women aren’t allowed to be confident. Especially not in their body. We take it for granted that everyone has an insecurity about their appearance and unless you can join the team and bond over your insecurities, you are arrogant.
Think about how many conversations you’ve had where derogatory comments about yourself were used as a way to bond. Think about how self-deprecating comedy is valued so highly. Well I refuse to use my self-esteem as currency in exchange for being more likeable. 🔥#ScarredNotScared
